25 Years in Southern California: The Evolution of Conal International Trading into CONAL Footwear

This year marks a quiet but meaningful milestone for our team: 25 years of operating in Southern California.

While our foundational roots in traditional shoemaking began in Asia in 1983, our U.S. journey officially started in 2001 when we established Conal International Trading, Inc. here in the City of Industry, California. At the time, our goal was straightforward—bring dependable, comfortable, and well-crafted men’s footwear to the American market at an accessible price point.

Over the past quarter-century, the footwear industry has changed dramatically, and so have we. What began as a traditional import and wholesale operation has evolved into CONAL Footwear—a modern, design-driven house of brands anchored by Ferro Aldo and Polar Fox.

As we look ahead to 2027 and beyond, we wanted to take a moment to share how our company has evolved over the last few years, where we stand today, and where we are headed next.

The 2020 Turning Point: Next-Generation Leadership & A New Standard

Every long-standing company eventually reaches a moment where it has to decide whether to keep doing things the old way or build for the future. For us, that turning point arrived in 2020.

Under next-generation co-management and a revitalized operational structure, we took a hard look at everything from our supply chain and vendor standards to how we design and present our shoes. Rather than competing in a race to the bottom with generic basics, we refocused the entire organization around three core pillars: Comfort, Quality, and Cruelty-free craftsmanship.

That shift led to a complete transformation of our catalog:

• 100% Cruelty-Free, Vegan Materials: Since 2020, we have committed our collections entirely to ethical, animal-free footwear—pairing rich synthetic leathers, breathable microfibers, and woven textiles with cushioned memory-foam insoles and our signature Flexible Series rubber outsoles.
• Translating High-Fashion Direction for Everyday Life: Instead of chasing yesterday’s marketplace bestsellers, our design and visual teams look upstream at global runway textures and modern European silhouettes. Whether a customer is stepping out of everyday streetwear into his very first suit, preparing for a career-defining interview, coordinating a wedding party with Ferro Aldo, or reaching for rugged, duo-textured everyday boots with Polar Fox, we build styles that make elevated fashion approachable.
• A Stable, Close-Knit California Team: Great products require steady hands behind the scenes. For the past six years, our core team of seven at our headquarters and distribution hub in the City of Industry, CA has worked side-by-side—overseeing nearly 400 in-stock styles and handling everything from factory forecasting and quality inspection to in-house studio photography and customer care under one roof.

Today, CONAL Footwear has grown from its traditional wholesale-manufacturing foundation into a recognized name for life’s milestone footwear—bringing high-fashion direction to a wider everyday audience.
